The New World of Networking

For many years networking was an art. Some are just better at being a "People Person". The days spent on the golf course schmoozing up to a prospective client or a fancy dinner at an amazing restaurant or a night on the town that lasts till dawn have somewhat been replaced. Many companies and careers failed just because they weren't as gifted in that "never met a stranger" mentality. You know who I'm talking about. Oh it's still important to treat your clients this way but in today's world you can connect without ever leaving your desk. You can tell everyone in your network what is happening in your business or personal life. Changes that affect whole industries and open debates for the good or bad of the world. All of this can be done through the miracle of the Internet in just a few minutes a day and the best part is it reaches everyone. But how effective is it? Time will tell. At the very least you can touch the people who are important to your business every day. How important is it to be in touch as often as you can? Very important I would say. So Blog, Facebook, MySpace, E Mail and Link away my friends. I'll see you on the Golf course!
